Hail to the Thief.

Guess who, as of this moment, is holding a copy of Radiohead's "Hail to the Thief" album (due out July 9th) ? That's right. Hugo the king of town Gomez. My source? I'll call her Mrs. Oombayaba.

I am the walrus.
coo coo ka chu.

I'll make this brief. Mr. Holliday, Warren High's band director, passed out his formal letter of resignation yesterday. It's still hanging over my head. Honestly, I've never been so sad over someone's leave. I'm going to miss that geek. Really, I am. The man does excellent work when he has excellent students (90% of us). He's (most of the time) a VERY fair person. I've never really said anything bad about the guy (really, i'm serious; i respect him a great deal), but (like all humans) he has his faults ("...3 HOURS OF DETENTION, HUGO!!!") He's so dedicated. I can go on for paragraphs. What I'll miss the most is seeing him sing some rather awful showtune themes or vocal jazz bops. His whistling puts a smile on my face. He's such a jolly person. If you catch him walking down a hall or...anywhere else, it looks as if this man has Gershwin on loop in his head. His walk is cheerful and his over-the-top way of talking to someone ("HELLL-OHHH....VERZ MI MONET?!?") can really make me laugh. Yesterday, during my 2nd of 3 hours of detention, I was laughing my ass off. I was with someone else and we were laughing at how this man whistles and keeps his own self entertained (he was whistling 'linus and lucy' for a whole. hour.)

Mr. H, we will miss ye dearly. Who knows where the musical program will go now... maybe it'll stay as it is. Maybe it'll get worse. Or, maybe, it can be our prime and most succesful year. All I know is... I'm staying. May Warren's music live on.

Van Cliburn... tonight. I. Cannot. Wait. I'm going 3 hours away to see what could be one of this master's final performances.
