OWNED

Hell's Kitchen might be the funniest thing on television since Felix the Cat's first television broadcast.

Anywho, today we're going to go over indie music. Why? Because I can't stand most of you hipster elitists.

The word "indie" is such a misnomer these days.

There are so many poseur losers who claim they listen to "indie" music, but really don't know what the hell they're talking about.

"So... yeah, uh, whattya listen to?"

"Indie music, man."

"Oh, okay. What groups?"

"You know -- the Yeah Yeah Yeahs... Yellowcard... you know, real indie music. Fuck MTV."

These are the dorks who often think, "Wow -- no one knows of this artist and/or group; I better start wearing them on my sleeve and claim their underground status to my pals! And fuck MTV!"

Indie music = Independent music.

It is used in the context of meaning "unsigned." "Unsigned" is just a synonym for "unemployed and supported solely by a fan base." Most groups who are labeled "indie" (like 99% of those on SoCal's INDIE103.1FM) are actually signed -- to big companies.

Oops! Cat's out of the bag.

Got it?

Good.

Next lesson: Why most indie music sucks.
