STILL CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE BANDS

After more than two years, I'll still say The Reign of Kindo are the best new fucking outfit the last decade has birthed.

Considering that part of my job entails listening to some 25+ new artists a day, I think that statement merits some weight.

They really are everything I love about music -- the celebration of individuality with a sole and defined purpose by a group. You know, the kind that says, "We're here. Take it or simply leave us with those who will." There isn't another group out there that allows their members to be so much of themselves while still sounding like a complete idea. I can't tell you how many acts there are out there who simply won't allow their members to just be. I was in several of them, and I can tell you that it can sometimes suck when you just want that extra freedom to be your total musical self.

All sappy shit aside, here's a new live video of my favorite Kindo tune "Just Wait." It brings me back to August of '07 at the Chain Reaction and being in the kind of awe that 1. is mentally and physically disturbing on all sorts of great levels and 2. is usually reserved for people who are really into Jesus.

And, when it comes down to it, they're the easiest group to write about since there's so much to love. This stuff, for me, just spews out. It isn't fandom. It's simply a reemphasized allegiance to the artistic spirit.
