THIS YEAR'S BALLOON BOY STORY

I'm not trying to be the wet blanket contrarian, but can someone explain to me the appeal of Monday's JetBlue flight attendant story? It seems that people will cling onto any type of novelty for that fraudulent sense of collectively being in on--or, worse, having an opinion on--the joke.

When I see adults feverishly share this kind of stuff, it makes me wonder if they've had enough life experiences to make these kind of stories seem moot. I'm dead serious.

Why is it that the dark comedians whose acts question The Establishment always end up signing on for shitty supporting roles in terrible comedies? It makes me not believe in comedy sometimes.

----

What pisses me off about people who say they like Huey Lewis and The News is that they almost always reference Back To The Future. Why not talk about their revival of doo-wop fused with blues rock? Or about how fucking amazing they are at writing melodies? Or, better, their near-flawless musicianship? You're stupid and I hate you.

Don't you dare fucking mention Journey. Don't you fucking dare.

Big, big, BIG news: Ryuichi Sakamoto is playing the El Rey this November as part of a rare US tour. I thought I was being punk'd. That's right -- with an apostrophe D.
