BEST WAY TO START THE WEEK

Talked to a former journalist colleague this morning. Said Jamiroquai are slated for a "massive comeback" to the states in 2011. If she's right (and she usually is) I will flip my shit.

Flip. My. Shit.

...almost as much as I flipped my shit last night when I was at the Phantom of the Opera's farewell show and this happened (Greenwich Village gay guy wet dream). I didn't even plan on it -- I just bought the stubs to take my mom to a nice show, and it ended up being this massive send-off spectacle. WTF, right?

----

Heard a great song by a great band on Pandora. Name: Superchunk.

So I Rhapsody Superchunk and they have a LOT of music. Like, a LOT. So I stream it all, and it just wasn't the same. It took 2 whole days to hear their discography to find that sound that I was looking for. And then I listened more and more and ...nothing.

It was then that I noticed I got the band name incorrect. Name: Superdrag.

You have no idea how upsetting it is to me when I hear music where I am actively seeking something in their sound. So. Annoying. It's like listening to that stack of CDs from anonymous bands, or going to your instrument to practice. You play and you play and you play, and you feel stupid and incompetent and without talent, and then you find The Moment. It's a small moment, but it's sooo worth it, whether it means finding a new great artist, or a new trick you've found to writing music or whatever. Music's a bitch; don't get into it unless you're cool with feeling like a total loser 90% of the time.
