SAID TRIO

As my band's EP is done, I'm already thinking of the next thing, which is my new trio. One thing my last band taught me is that I work best in the Billy Joel model, which is often considered the opposite of the Bruce Springsteen model.

The Billy Joel model is writing out a few sketches for songs and sticking to these sketches to the end, so long as they feel right. That means never finishing stuff in hopes that it might be good. My last band taught me this is how I work best.

The Bruce Springsteen model is writing 500 songs in a span of a summer, and picking 12 to include in an LP. That's a psychotic (I'd even say unhealthy) way to work. Exposing too much truth to yourself can be exhausting. Plus, it takes a lot of time to write 500 songs.

I've gotten really good at meeting deadlines, so this will come out in August 2011. Unlike my last EP, this one will be much easier to find. Trios don't necessarily have very creative names.
